In a short paper (1 page) please give your opinion about/reaction to the plagiarism situation involving Christine Pelton described in the article entitled “Plagiarism Controversy Engulfs Kansas School”.

Middle and High School people: Have you had any experiences with students in your classes who have plagiarized (either through the use of technology or through more traditional means)? If so, how did you deal with the situation? What steps do you (or would you) take to prevent this?

Elementary school people: At the younger levels plagiarism sometimes takes the form of copying (homework, tests) in addition to the more traditional definition. Have you had any experiences with students in your classes who have plagiarized or copied? If so, how did you deal with the situation? What steps do you (or would you) take to prevent this?

K/1 people: At very young levels, students are beginning to define the idea of personal property and honesty. Have you had experiences with students “finding” items that belong to others? If so, how did you deal with the situation? What steps do you (or would you) take to prevent this?

This is due by the end of the course.
